“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.”
On October 9th, 1971, Stevie Richards was born into your typical Philadelphia family. Little did they know, he was anything but typical. While other kids were groomed for a “normal” career paths within the city limits, Stevie dreamed of becoming a world-famous professional wrestler. He was repeatedly scoffed at and told “you can’t do that” and “get a real job” by those closest to him.
By the age of 15 years old, Stevie was busy helping out at his neighborhood gym in exchange for any type of fitness knowledge.
Fast forward to November 10th, 1991. A 20 year old Richards finally started making his dreams a reality and wrestled his first match. It was from these humble beginnings that he would go on to wrestle for every single major company in the world. In his accomplishments, Richards would become a 2-time ECW World Tag Team Champion, numerous championships from wrestling companies around the world and 22-time WWE Hardcore Champion- the most of any other wrestler in WWE history. He would also go on to appear in several WrestleManias; the WWE’s equivalent of the Super Bowl and be voted as one of the Top 50 “Most Jacked” Superstars in WWE History.
The kid from Philly who was told repeatedly that he couldn’t, now proved to everyone that he absolutely could.
