Force USA X15 Review: Multi-trainer beast

With its 11-guage 3x3 uprights, the X-series of products from Force USA offers a beefier alternative to the other models the company has to offer. In fact, when looking at the X15, it visually appears to be almost twice the size of the standard 2x2 design. But extra steel and toughness is not all that the X15 has to offer. This versatile machine is essentially six strength training machines in one, with notable features being the aforementioned 3x3 uprights as well as the new cable pulley rails, innovative pull-up bars and high-quality weight stacks.

OVERVIEW

With its 11-guage 3x3 uprights, the X-series of products from Force USA offers a beefier alternative to the other models the company has to offer. In fact, when looking at the X15, it visually appears to be almost twice the size of the standard 2x2 design. But extra steel and toughness is not all that the X15 has to offer. This versatile machine is essentially six strength training machines in one, with notable features being the aforementioned 3x3 uprights as well as the new cable pulley rails, innovative pull-up bars and high-quality weight stacks.

3x3 Uprights

The depth and width of the uprights on the Force USA X15 are truly impressive and serve as just another example of how much the company truly listens to its customers. While many were asking for 2x2 uprights to be standard on the machines, the X15 offers even more with its 3x3 uprights and its 11-gauge rolled SteelForce tubing. Thanks to this extra steel, the X15 can withstand any punishment that it receives, whether used in a residential or professional setting.

In addition to offering extra beefiness, the uprights on the X15 also feature Westside Spacing with 42 adjustment points. These points are one inch in diameter with 1 ½ inch spacing on the lower rack and 3 inch spacing on the upper rack. This allows you to quickly and easily adjust height levels to suit your needs. Two barbell storage holders, which can accommodate Olympic barbells, are also located at the back of the rack. Commercial-grade J-Hooks and Safeties are included with the base model to assist with making your adjustments.

New Cable Pulley Rails

Aside from the weight stacks, the new cable pulley rail system used with the X15 is essentially the heart and the soul of the machine. While you should still use two hands when making adjustments in order to ensure your safety, the innovative design of this 2:1 pulley system makes it possible to make adjustments with just one hand.

Like the rest of the machine, the rollers in this cable pulley system have been beefed up, which helps to make the process of making adjustments smoother and easier. Even better, these heavy-duty roller pulleys can be moved to 34 different adjustment points on the front of the half-rack. The system also features a knurled grip handle, which locks into place with the help of a pop pin, while the cables themselves are aircraft grade and rated for 2,000 pounds.

The pulley system with the X15 connects into the dual integrated weight stacks located at the back of the machine, allowing you to perform lat pulldowns, flyes, curls, low rows and more.

Weight Stacks

The weight stacks on the X15 are controlled with the cable pulley system, which has a 2:1 ratio system. This means that 100 pounds of weight put on the system is equal to 50 pounds. The weight stacks with this machine are identical to the G15 Pro in terms of how they look as well as in how much they hold: 289 pounds. The biggest difference between the two models is that the X15 pulley system only offers the 2:1 ratio, whereas the G15 offers the 2:1 ratio with the option to easily convert to a 4:1 ratio.

ncluded Pull-Up Bars

A classic straight pull-up bar system with a straight pull-up and a multi-grip pull-bar is also included with the Force USA X15. This makes it the first of the Force USA trainers to include both types of bars. Thanks to this system, you are not stuck with just a bar or the multi-grip system. Rather, the system can be swapped out depending on what you want to do. The station also features knurled gripping, which allows for overhand, underhand, wide-grip and close grip positions.

As is the case with everything else with this machine, the pull-up bar boasts beefier bolts than in other models. The system also includes a suspension trainer stirrup, which is compatible with a resistance band or heavy bag and allows you to experience more than 50 stability, core strength and muscular endurance exercises.

Plate Storage

The Force USA X15 machine offers four spaces for plate storage on the side with additional plate storage space in the back. A unique feature to the X-series is that the storage slots are adjustable, allowing you to configure the plates in a more personalized manner. In past models, you typically only had three weight holders paired with bumper plates, which could sometimes be problematic. This design is much sleeker and easier to use.

Included Attachments

The X15 offers a number of attachments that were previously only available as part of the upgrade package with other models. Attachments and extras included with the X15 include:

  • Low Row Footplate (25” x 10”)

  • Lat Pulldown Bar

  • Single Chin-Up Bar

  • Multi-Grip Chin-Up Bar

  • Aluminum Straight Bar

  • Close Grip Triangle

  • Ankle Cuff

  • Landmine

  • Extension Chains (2)

  • Tricep Rope

  • Tricep Pressdown Bar (V Bar)

  • Safety Arms (2)

  • J-Hooks (2)

  • Plastic Handle (2)

The safety spotter arms that come with the X15 are a little longer than those that came with past models and the hard rubber on the arms is a little bit thicker. Meanwhile, the landmine serves as a swivel arm that can attach to either side of the uprights, where it can hold a barbell and be used for rotational torso training.

Basically, straight out of the box, you are going to get everything that you need rather than needing to purchase the upgrade package with the X15. With the upgrade kit, however, you can add three additional strength training stations to your machine, as well as three functional attachments, four more storage shelves and a TV mount. Items includes in the upgrade kit are as follows:

  • Lat Pulldown Seat with Knee Holder

  • Multi-Grip Lat Pulldown Handle

  • Multi-Grip Landmine Handle

  • Matador-Dip Handles/Dip Bar

  • Storage Shelves with Rubber Lining (4)

  • Jammer Arms (2)

  • TV Mounting Bracket

Measurement Considerations

As might be expected with increased durability and overall beefiness, it is important to note that the X15 does take up a bit more space than some other models. The measurements on this machine are 71” (W) x 57” (D) x 92” (H) for the exterior and 40” (W) x 43” (D) x 86” (H) for the interior. Many basements are only slightly taller than the height of this machine, which means you may have trouble fitting it into a home gym located in the basement. Keep in mind that you don’t just need clearance for the machine itself, but you also need clearance space for your head when doing pullups.

Conclusion

Whether you are interested in powerlifting, CrossFit or you simply are not interested in having a Smith machine, the Force USA X15 may be what you are looking for. With its extra heavy-duty construction, it is a good option for a household with multiple users as well as for a commercial setting or training studio. With its 2:1 cable pulley ratio and its versatility to serve as six strength training machines in one, this machine is a solid choice backed by a lifetime structural warranty.

OVERVIEW

Combining an entire commercial gym into one machine and constructed of 11-gauge rolled SteelForce tubing, the Force USA G15 All-In-One Trainer offers an 8-in-1 strength training system with a minimal footprint. In fact, the exterior measurements are just 87”(H) x 80” (W) x 53” (D) while the interior measurements are 80” (H) x 40” (W) x 50” (D). Featuring a power rack, Smith machine, multi-grip pull-up bar, weight stacks, plate storage, 18 attachments and an interchangeable cable pully ratio, the Force USA G15 really does have it all.

Power Rack

A true all-in-one trainer, the power rack on the G15 is built to accommodate commercial-grade J-Hooks and Safeties, allowing you to adjust the half-rack to virtually any position you desire. Altogether, the front-facing uprights have 60 adjustment points at one-inch intervals. Thanks to the laser-etched numbering, you can quickly and easily fasten your J-Hooks, Safeties or Monolift attachments to the height that you desire. Meanwhile, the removable rubber barbell protector sleeves serve to protect the barbell knurling while also extending the life of the barbell itself. Jammer arms are also available as a part of the upgrade kit.

Smith Machine

Whether you are looking to increase your upper body strength with bench presses or work on your lower body with squats, the Smith machine has you covered. With its fixed barbell system, the Smith machine is capable of accepting Olympic weight plates of up to 772 pounds. The Smith machine also features an adjustable spring-loaded safety for additional protection.

To help keep your workout as safe and effective as possible, the Smith machine features commercial-grade guide rails, linear bearings and reinforced bushings to keep your movements natural and ultra-smooth. Meanwhile, the counterbalance system starts off at zero pounds and allows for re-racking along 14 different racking levels, making it a good system for individuals of any fitness level. While this does result in a little bit of inertia within the system, this is a minor downside when compared to the benefits that the system provides.

For additional safety, the system also features a safe lock and release mechanism along with a safety catch. This allows you to max out your workout without needing a spotter. You can also purchase SuperBands separately to add even more weight to your workout.

Upgraded Smith Machine Safeties

The Force USA G15 is built with springs and upgraded hooks. This is an improvement over the G3 model, which just had a rubber stop. While the spring does result in the loss of a couple of inches, thereby preventing you from being able to put it all of the way down, it also adds more cushion to the drop. If you drop the bar while doing rows, RDLs or anything similar, you will find that it does not stop on a dime.

Multi-Grip Pull Bar

The Multi-Grip Pull Bar on this machine features a lot of laser etching on the outside, front and sides. With the G-series, the Chin Up and Pull Up station features knurled grip positions capable of accommodating close grip, wide grip, overhand and underhand movements. The Multi-Grip Dip Handle attachment allows you to use different grips and grip widths so you can build mass in your upper body. Not only can the system can be adjusted vertically on the front of the racks, but it also has a ring where you can attach weight belts and bands for added resistance. With a weight rating of 772 pounds, you are not likely to exceed the maximum capacity of this innovative system.

Weight Stacks

One major difference between the G15 model and the G10 is that the G15 has dual integrated 289-pound weight stacks that feature attractive covers with exercise charts. The weight stacks line up really nicely, but they do lift up at the top just a bit if you have a heavy attachment on the cables. In this case, you may need to use your hand to hold the pin down.

Plate Storage

The plate storage feature of this model is very helpful when it comes to saving space. This particular model offers four places for plate storage with no bumper plates in between. The lack of bumper plates is a nice feature because it helps to keep the footprint small while also preventing the weights from bumping into the bumper plates below them. The barbell storage feature, which is located in the back, also helps to save space with the system.

Included Attachments

The Force USA G15 All-In-One Trainer comes with numerous attachments as part of the base model. Some of these include:

  • Low Row Foot Plates – Measures 9” x 22” and is very easy to put together and attach. Can be attached to the front of either upright on the front of the rack. Features a black powder-coated finish and slip-resistant surface.

  • Low Row Handle – Features more laser etching.

  • Multi-Grip Dip Handle – Allows you to use different grips and grip widths. Adjusts vertically on the front of the rack. Can be used with bands or weight belts for additional resistance.

  • Hex Collars – Three high-quality pairs, which would easily cost at least $45 if purchased separately.

  • Suspension Trainer – Stirrup station that makes it possible to complete more than 50 different exercises. Compatible with a heavy bag and resistance band packages to add even more versatility.

  • Triceps Push-Down Bar – Heavy grade system.

  • Rope Push-Down Bar

  • Safety Spotter Arms

  • J-Hooks/Cups

  • Four Plug/Position Single-Handed Cable

  • Cambered Bar – Curled version

  • Straight Bar

The bars that are included with the system also feature plenty of hooks for additional versatility.

Cable Pulley Ratios

Featuring the world’s first adjustable cable ratio system, the Force USA G15 All-In-One Trainer can quickly and easily be transformed from offering a 2:1 to a 4:1 ratio. With the 2:1 ratio, a user with 100 pounds loaded will only be lifting 50 pounds while transforming to the 4:1 ratio means the same load results in a 25-pound lift.

Thanks to the pulley system’s high tensile aircraft cables, which boast a 2,000-pound rating, the pulleys can easily and safely be adjusted vertically to 22 different height positions with just one hand. This feature makes it possible to access hundreds of functional training possibilities for achieving various strength-training goals. Overall, the functionality and safety of the system is superior to 1:1 systems while also offering a great system that works well for lifters of different levels.

Conclusion

Simply put, the Force USA G15 All-In-One Trainer truly is what it claims to be: an all-in-one system. It boasts a small footprint for all that it has to offer and it is made of high-quality materials and construction. Even when kept in an area with high humidity, the system remains maintenance-free and free of rust. With the many upgrades and additional attachments that are available for purchase separately, you are sure to meet all of your strength training needs with this one machine.
